Case Study #2

Jim Brooks is a real estate motivator. Jim indicates that he has a first generation cassette tape recently recorded at one of the many seminars he stages. His seminars are an all day thing and it is immediately observed that each of his four sessions lasts on the order of 2 hours. Therefore, each "title" will be spread across 2 CDs. He intends to sell each title separately, and it is determined that a double CD jewel box is the perfect vehicle (shrink wrapped, of course, for that slightly clinical feel that he is after).

Editing his live programs proved to be challenging as there were times when he referred to his audio visual materials or interacted with the audience in such a way that in a free standing audio only program some of the impact was lost. In all, it took our engineer (and Jim was there with him) a good 12 hours over two days to tidy up the material. Jim was exhausted but ecstatic. We now had the makings to produce 8 mastering CDs.

Jim visited us one more time with a sketch of how he though the label on the CD should look. He had also reached the conclusion that a 4 page booklet and a tray card would finish off the packaging. He had a photo of himself on stage that he wanted as a backdrop to the text. Black Inc resident artist soon put together a proof sheet for the CD label, the booklet and the tray card. This was sent to Jim, who marked a few minor changes and sent it back as "approved". We then sent the materials to the printer, and began the duplication of the CDs. Once the artwork arrived back at Black Inc we assembled the CDs into the double jewel cases and sent the lot off to be shrink wrapped. And on to Jim's office.

And once again, Jim now only needs to email us whenever he requires re-stocking of his programs. (Oh, and this took place about 3 years ago and Jim is now thinking its time to expand on his catalogue of titles and is expected in the studio any day now to begin recording ).
