Black Inc Recorders
Duplication / Replication
a division of Lavender Music pty Ltd
Duplication (CD, DVD or audio cassette) is both a manufacturing process and a professional service. To manufacture is to faithfully reproduce a specified quantity of units. There are several companies around that can do this. But at Black Inc, we regard duplication more as service. As a professional production facility, we are acutely aware of the intricate aspects involved in the production of your project. Within these pages we will endeavour to provide you with a formula to assist in submitting an enquiry for your duplication project and to make you life easier.
When preparing your project for duplication, there are three fundamental aspects that you need to consider:
- Mastering - Your source material needs to be previewed and then transferred / converted to a duplication master in one of our Studios.
- Quantity - we need to know how many units you require in order to prepare quotes, manage stock levels and schedule activities.
- Packaging - You need to have some idea as to how you plan to sell or distribute your products so that we can assist you.
Quantity
Quantity has a significant impact on enabling us to present an accurate quotation. However, it can also assist us to advise you on the most cost effective options available to you. You can count on paying a lower unit price as the quantities go up. Set up costs for packaging and artwork are such that your quantity requirements might suggest a certain style of presentation.
Artwork
How the final product is packaged is a major consideration in determining your artwork requirements. Decisions need to be reached as to labelling, booklets, sleeve cards and heatshrink. While there are differences depending on whether you wish to duplicate CDs, cassettes or videos, you need to visualise (and then verbalise or sketch) what the end user holds in their hands when they receive your product.
Black Inc provides a complete artwork service and we are able to take your designs from concept through to print. Should you choose to produce your own artwork, we can provide you with the necessary specifications.
