Mastering

Mastering is a relatively simple procedure but an essential one. Our mastering engineers are highly trained in this specialist craft to ensure your project is appropriately transferred to the perfect medium.

We need to create a Red Book certified CD master from which we can make multiple copies. Remember that CDs are limited to a program length of just under 80 minutes. We can make a CD master by recording your original material in our studios, or compiling several sources, or from existing programs. If you have a Red Book certified CD, we do not need to create another. But if you have program material on DAT, cassette, video, MP3 or even vinyl, we need to burn a master CD. Even if you have a CD, we will need to check it for errors. (You'd be surprised how often someone comes in with what they believe to be a CD ready to duplicate that has problems that require us to re-master the work.)

Mastering (and authoring) is the process of assembling and optimising your material for the target medium. A duplication master, from which copies are made, is the result of this process.

We offer a complete recording/mastering service, from recording original material, additional recording or editing of existing material, assembly and creation of the master, or just to give that final "polish" for a professional production. If you are submitting a master, please be aware of the relevant format and standards for the different media.
